Share Wi-Fi access with a QR code
A Wi-Fi QR code saves guests from typing a long password and avoids mistakes with capitalization or punctuation. It works well on guest cards, reception desks, café counters, vacation rental instructions, meeting rooms, and event signs.
The QR code contains the network name, security type, password, and hidden-network setting. Because anyone who can scan or decode the image may recover those credentials, display it only for a guest network or in an appropriately controlled location.
Wi-Fi QR code questions
Does OmniKit receive my Wi-Fi password?
No. The network name and password are encoded locally in your browser and are not uploaded to OmniKit.
Which Wi-Fi security option should I choose?
Use WPA for most WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 personal networks. Choose WEP only for legacy networks or No password for an open network.
Can anyone who scans the code see the password?
The password is encoded inside the QR code. Anyone with access to the code may be able to decode it, so share or display it only where appropriate.
